Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

You may qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan if all of the following conditions apply to you:

• You do not have any form of dental insurance coverage.
• Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000.
• You are a Canadian resident for income tax purposes.
• You filed an income tax return for the previous tax year.

All eligibility requirements must be satisfied to qualify for the CDCP.

The CDCP contributes toward the cost of a broad range of oral health care services. Coverage is partial and subject to program guidelines.

Important: Certain services, as well as treatments exceeding standard frequency limits, require prior approval from the CDCP. In these cases, treatment must be recommended by your oral health provider and approved by the CDCP before care is delivered. Approval decisions are based on your oral health history and relevant medical considerations. Services requiring preauthorization became available starting November 2024.

Examples of services that may be covered when clinically indicated include:

• Diagnostic and preventive care
• Basic dental treatments
• Major dental procedures
• Anesthesia or sedation
• Orthodontic services
• Prosthodontics services (such as denture and denture-related services)

 The CDCP does not necessarily cover 100% of treatment costs. You may be responsible for out-of-pocket expenses if:

• Your adjusted family net income falls between $70,000 and $89,999. 
• Treatment fees exceed CDCP reimbursement limits.
• You choose services that are not included under CDCP coverage.

Any additional costs will be discussed with you in advance by your oral health provider.
